Is it a Mah'Nah plush, or did he try to eat a giant rock and is dealing with the consequences? :P

Maiden-Chynna responds:

he screams for he does not know

Ridley is absolutely the kind of roommate that would try to diminish someone else's accomplishments. :P

Fun stuff! It's extra impressive since it's all done with ink and water colour, since I have a heck of a time trying not to bleed all the colours over each other. haha

Keep up the good work!

ClmPaper responds:

Thanks! It's actually all copics in this one though!
If you got problems with watercolour bleeding all over the place you should wait for it to dry! Then you can go over it / create harsh lines and borders. Otherwise itll bleed into eachother.

That feeling when you forgot to take the frozen meat out of the freezer before Dad gets home, and also the house and the neighborhood is flying away. :P

Nice stuff!
Some good articulation with the poses, and it's cool to see your harpies using their wings as hands in different ways!

A whole lot of emotion getting shown by them, but I also wonder if they are the internal emotions of the blue haired girl?

Only thing that could use some touching up is the rocks of the town floating away. While off in the distance, the closer rock could have a tiny bit more detailing than the ones further away to show some depth.

Either way, good stuff!

Oddlem responds:

OOOOOOH maybe I should have found a way to communicate that better, I was trying to show that she went through a bunch of different reactions and then eventually sat down

ALSO that's another thing I def could have done better, the smaller rocks were more in the foreground and I should have put some in front of the big one to communicate their depth

thank you for all the feedback!! it's def stuff I should be paying more attention to
AND also thank you for all the compliments!!

Leon is keeping his cool a lot better than I would be during this situation. :P

Lots of characters and lots of details! Great planning and execution all around!

Ruedefaux responds:

HAHA he's Leon! He has to keep his cool in such a situation XD
Thank you~

Despite all his evil schemes, you gotta hand it to the guy...he makes a guest feel welcomed in his lair. :P

ACID-YORU responds:

Yeah dude. He was so polite. He even let me make the first strike after a nice conversation

Working in black and white is a tricky medium, but of course, a trick to learn is that dark hair can be very shiny depending on the direction of the light source. Some highlights and then of course the absence of highlights can get a bit more extra depth in your pieces.

Plus, that Loki and Thor on the bottom left are really well done too!
Keep it up!

TheDyingSun responds:

"that Loki and Thor on the bottom..."
- I KNEW IT!!! My friend initially told me to draw Bucky, but in the end I looked at it and said it looks like Ragnarok Thor.

Otherwise, yeah, I didn't intend to do complete black and white, but it is rather tricky. My second attempt was a lot cleaner, paying attention to the lighting. Working with a water acrylic mix for shades is difficult fun :)

The blank expression on this guy makes me think that he was looking for Multiplication Avenue and got lost somewhere along the way. :P

Good stuff! Your astronaut is cemented as the focal point by having brighter and more saturated colours than the non-astronaut civilians wearing beige and brown clothing. That said, I notice one tiny omission that was likely accidental.

The girl closest to the camera has lip definition, but Ece has a smooth line from the bottom of his nose to his chin. Just a little something to add a tiny bit of depth to the bottom of his face is all he needs to show he has lips at that angle, otherwise this is a fine piece.

Keep it up! :D

TheDyingSun responds:

The lip thing was an accidental omission >.<

I was in the middle of adding it and it looked weird so I stopped and I forgot to go back to add it in! I might update that depending on how it looks.

Otherwise, thank you so much! :>

The small pork bun is for now, the other thee giant ones are for later.

Nice color combo! I had mentioned that already on Discord, but taking a deeper look at this for the sake of reviewing, I notice that you have a nice strong light source coming from the right side of the image, and it casts some good light on your Moth Girl here.

Looking at the goofy cat and the pork bun, I'd say that they might also be getting a bit more of a shine like the girl's sweater and skirt are. Just a highlight on the right hand side would probably about do it and still keep the general lighting scheme you were going for, nothing major. :P

That said, I really do enjoy the sparkles and the look of fascination on the cat, like it'd been dreaming of this day for months. haha

Keep up the good work!

Oddlem responds:

OOOOOH you're totally right!! I couldn't figure out how to get the background to contrast against her, I shouldn't have underestimated the power of highlights!! thank you very much, u tha homie!!

This is a very specific bet to lose. haha

Overall the whole piece works as intended and gets a good chuckle with the various character's reactions, and luckily for the Captain, most of them are more interested in their own conversations and food. :P

I like variety of characters and how you didn't just stick with one mood or type of reaction, the combo of shiny surfaces mixed in with a dimly lit atmosphere. Interesting mix for a maid café. lol

They aren't really that many 'mistakes', so I'mma just list 'em off point form.
Mostly just stuff to watch out for next time, but I can respect the time crunch you told me about for this piece. :)

-Chutney's phone, since it's glowing and giving off enough light for pink to show up on his face, there'd be enough light to shine on his left shoulder (our right). The back of the phone obstructs the light so his right shoulder would be dark like it already is.
-Chutney isn't too far away from the Captain, so his lineart could be a little bit more crisp to match up with how you drew Captain with a bit more clarity since he's the focal point of the piece.
-If there is pink light illuminating parts of the drinks and the captain, there'd be a little bit of pink highlight on the couple o' crickets too.
-A bit more of a wall plug where the wire goes into the seats.
-If Ruby's hair is giving off enough of a glow for highlights to appear on Henry, then Ruby's backrest would have a bit of a pink glow as well.

Other than that, it's a fine piece.
Characters near the front of the pic have more detail and characters in the background are a little bit out of focus and more impressionist coloring. It all works out.

Keep it up!

TheDyingSun responds:

Thank you! I'll keep up making sure that the light is consistent through the piece, and hopefullly next year I get to give my piece a lot more TLC.
Chut could have used more attention to shading as well, like making his skin look more like an orange (similar to last Pico Day's drawing)
ACOCK did need that little bit of clean up and distinction on their silhouettes to make them pop.

Thank you, and next year I'll have a more extensive session to plan my piece and give it all the love it needs ^v^

Thanks to the wondrous power of glowing goop, this facility runs entirely on Jello! :P

Kamikaye responds:

Glowing goop is eco friendly :)
