Launch Octopus is one of my favorite Megaman X Soundtracks, and you did a great job remixing it. :)

I'm not sure if you used a pre-existing template and changed the synths or if this is all played by ear, but either way I'm incredibly impressed at how cool this sounds.

Keep up the good work!

This is pretty good!

The way you eased from the synths and drums into the more intense guitar parts helped to nail the ominous feeling you were going for.

The song slowly turns into what seems like a battle theme for a show or a game, which is quite impressive and sounds really cool. :P

My knowledge of sound mixing and guitars is kind of limited, so other than saying that I didn't hear any audio cracks/clipping or missing notes I can't really comment much on the technical side of things. I'm sure there is someone on the Audio Forum who'd be more than happy to give some kind of analysis though.

All in all I'd say you did a great job, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

P.S
Would you mind if I used this W.I.P as background music for a cartoon as long as I gave full credit? :)

Naildown55 responds:

Of course you may use this demo. Thanks for the thorough review :)

This song works perfectly for an animation I'm working on! Just the right speed and mood I was after. If it isn't too much trouble, would it be okay if I could use it here on the site as long as I gave you full credit?

The track is very soothing and calm, fitting for a very relaxed snowy cave setting, which is what I'm sure you both were after when you made this.

The instruments seem to be quite varied, but you managed to space them out enough to prevent the song from sounding cluttered.

This song would actually fit quite well for an animation I have planned. If it isn't asking too much; would it be okay If I ever used this track in a cartoon for the site as long as I gave credit?

samulis responds:

Hey dude! As long as the cartoon is non-commercial, it's completely fine to use it, as per the CC license. If you plan on sticking an ad in there, just pop a little rev share my way.

Happy animating!

The beginning build up sort of seems like a different song, more of the 'villain's theme' that plays before a battle. However, right near the end of the buildup the song amps up the intensity and become final boss-y.

It certainly seems like you were aiming for an RPG Style of music, which I think you were able to successfully execute with the large variety of orchestral instruments mixed with what I think are synths.

Would you be opposed if I used this in an animation someday?
I'll give full credit and everything. :)

Lugiaa responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, maybe the build up was a bit long haha. Also I don't remember using any non-orchestral synths in this (they probably don't sound the best because I'm cheap and use free VST instruments)

Of course you can use it, that's why it's here! (if you haven't found any other music in the time it took for me to reply lol)

...and then Snorlax wakes up and tries to beat you up. :P

While the original loop is pretty short you managed to lengthen it nicely by mixing up the endings and playing them in them different pitches as the song goes on. As the mood is meant to be peaceful and relaxing, it makes sense that the drums are a bit limited when compared to the flute and the pianos. All in all it has good composition and pacing. Good job!

Hell yeah! The beat in this song is very satisfying, and doesn't get too repetitive as a result of all of the synths playing on top of it.

I would love to use this in an animation some day if that is alright with you; I would give full credit and include a link to this song in the description. :)

I really like the part that starts at 1:19, it has a satisfying beat and some cool outer-spacey synth. :P

Not bad! I enjoy the steady progression and the choice of drums. Your experiments with the new synths were well put together and didn't seem out of place with the rest of the song; resulting in a spacey factory feel, which is what I'm sure you were going for.

Would you mind if I ever used this in an animation some day?

GdabZ responds:

Thanks for your comment! No problem for a featuring ;)

Not bad for a short loop, I can see myself using this for an animation sometime in the future. :)
(If you don't mind of course)

If you were to expand upon this loop, I would suggest having the beginning part play again at the end with more drums and then have more instruments join the guitars at the end before repeating to add extra intensity. Just suggestions though.

Great work!

This is certainly well orchestrated! I can tell how much effort went into this with the amount of instruments being used.

The song has excellent progression and the moments of increased intensity certainly nail the atmosphere of 'escaping', which is what I'm sure you were after. As well the fast playing violin section seems to fit in perfectly with space theme.

I'm working on a cartoon right now, and this song would fit in perfectly with it.
Would it be okay If I could use it in my animation? I'll 100% make sure to credit you and leave a link so people can find this song. :)

Zeekyboogydoog responds:

That would be fine! I could also do something custom for ya, to expand both of our portfolios! Just inbox me with some details sir, thanks for the review!
