Looks pretty good! Not sure what kind of feet this creature has, but compared to his hands they look a bit blockier and harder to make out. If he doesn't have blocky feet then maybe finding a way to add more definition to the toes would bump up this concept piece a bit more.

Upper body is still impressive, so you just gotta keep at it.
Keep up the good work! :)

RaffScrapz responds:

This is the kinda responses I want man! Thanks so much for commenting, and i'm happy you pointed out the bottom half, I'm gonna do an updated version soon now! Also! Your the guy who made one of my favourite Animations ever on Newgrounds! Yet Tours, seriously happy you decided to write in dude.

I'd probably call them Relic Sentries or Wandering Sentries based on their lore description.

Other than that I said you did a good job adding some life to the animation while still making it look mechanically sound, with the pistons and the details of the extensions. :)

Tcrakman responds:

Thanks, im glad you think it has life! thats what i planned for this one.
To make it move as much as possible while still keeping a mechanical feeling to it.

I like both names also! I´ll probably keep the sentries word in their final name though.

I say this often, but seeing you enjoying and looking forward snowy weather after all those times you dreaded it really brightens my day. :)

Great work with the pastel colours and the shading as well, not being a master of anatomy (yet) I can't tell if anything if off proportion wise with my brain right now, so I'd say it's all good. haha

Keep up the good work!

doublemaximus responds:

Aw thank you so much!!!
Yeah I feel like I can officially start loving winter again now that I live in a house with heat <3 It's been great!!

Cool test! Looks like you blended a few of the textures all together after you finished the initial flat coloring.

Another cool trick you can also try, is if you take a picture of some tree bark and desaturate it before making it a texture. It'll end up giving you some CRAZY details. Great for backgrounds or really scratchy surfaces.

Keep up the tinkering!

Rynthie responds:

Thanks for the critique! I'll keep what you said in mind!

That's pretty realistic my dude!
All those crags and that attention to the shadow details and smooth colour transitions. :)

Gonna try to make a whole range next? :P

YakovlevArt responds:

thanks! this took hours to render! Maybe it I can think of how to make it less detailed.

Some cool lineart and composition you've got going on here! It also seems like you've got some ideas to flesh out a story or two about this guy, so hopefully you revisit this at least a couple more times for some good practice. :P

In therms of art, the only thing about this drawing that seems a little bit off is the fact that Korbin and his Crow's have a bit of moonlight shining on their highlights, but the buildings in the back do not.

Seems like your stylistic choice was to have the characters be more detailed as they are closer to camera, and to have the buildings in the back a bit more simplified due to the distance away FROM the camera.

Even with this tactic in mind, I'm sure adding a small amount of moonshine (not the drink!) to the buildings would help make everything fit in with the light sources you've chosen.

Great work all around though, so I hope you keep practicing and get even better! :)

Derkasnake responds:

Thank you for the kind words! And yeah, I didn't put moonlight on the buildings for the reasons you stated. Looking back now, I think it would've been okay if I reduced the glow effect compared to everything else in the picture.

Haha this is great!
When I saw the icon on the front page I recognized it immediately as SpaceBalls. It's one of my favorite movies and you certainly did it justice with this cartoon-y rendition.

You did a great job with the composition and were able to fit in a ton of references into a single page as a result.

Keep up the amazing work my friend! :D

VincentGrey responds:

Thank you so much that you like my version of Spaceballs, Syrupmasterz!

You drew her face super well man! All the shading and highlights show a great understanding of lighting. :)

If you don't mind me asking, what pixel resolution do you work with when doing detailed art?
I work with 1280w x 720h Res: 200 px/inch most of the time and my character's faces turn out pixel-y when I try to add too much detail.

Maybe I'm just working too far zoomed in or working with too low of a resolution, but that's my current problem. haha

Great work!

DidiEsmeralda responds:

Hi, thanks for comment Syrup, I always do the work in A4 format and 300 dpi.
I encourage your work.

I've noticed that trying to kill an obvious Darksider just leads you to getting blown up by everyone else, YOU GOTTA SHOW RESTRAINT. :P

Good recreation of the original, but you accidentally forgot to shade the Worm's left hand and add the line thicknesses on the middle panel. Other than that, good going. haha

DoodlingHitman responds:

Haha, yeah, I just noticed that as well.

Thanks! :]

Hey not bad!

On a side note, how do you get your lines to look so smooth? Mine are always come out a bit jagged when I use my tablet. Although in my case it's probably just artist error. haha

DoodlingHitman responds:

I had this as well, but apparently it just came down to how I used my brush in my program.

Did you use Paint SAI as well? I guess it doesn't matter which program it is, really. But I always draw zoomed in on my drawing to make less mistakes. While zoomed in, everything looks pixelated, but once I zoom to 100%, it looks good.

Not sure how to do it though. I think it's based on the brush type as well. Oh, and I quickly make a line. Like, *SWOOSH*. I don't draw a line slowly because it would get wobbly then.

And thanks man! :D
