This is some cool music! It can easily see this being used for some intense fight scenes against a mummy in a video game.

I'm not an expert on foreign instruments, but the guitars and the style that was used kind of sound like the music from the Prince of Persia games. Of course there's some electronic parts thrown in as well. :P

The song was also kept fresh by the constant changing of beats and instruments. Using the same chords over and over can make a song repetitive pretty fast, yet too many instruments can make it seem cluttered; so good work on finding a nice balance. :)

Keep up the great work!

Leelius responds:

Thank you for such well written review and analysis, there is indeed some inspiration to this track from the ancient east and such! I am very happy with the imagery this gave you. I can see it as well!

Some groovy jams you got going on here. :P

The transition from the few 'chips' (I don't know the correct terminology) at the beggining to the funky synths and faster beats really makes for some enjoyable music. As well I have to praise your use of note variations and different parts used to keep the song fresh all throughout.

You seem to be a man of many genres, looking forward to whatever it is you come up with next! :)

Noisysundae responds:

It will be too bland and less creative later on if I keep doing the same genre constantly. Old school DnB and house beat are still my typical style, though.
Thanks again for this review. :D

All that's missing is a music video with aliens dancing on a spaceship. :P

Great work, some of the parts are a little bit repetitive, but there is enough variety thrown into the middle of the song to keep the song fresh.

Keep it up!

Thanks for the review!

You have a neat style of music, reminds me of some of songs I've heard from RPG games. :)

This particular song is nice and chill, and has a pleasant "anime characters about to go on vacation" feel to it, if that makes any sense...I dunno, just the mental image that formed in my head. :P

Great work with all of the note variations and instrument additions, they come in gradually and blend in seamlessly with each other.

Keep it up!

Noisysundae responds:

I did imagine a 2D girl on the beach during making this. XD
Good to see you're still visiting Noisysundae even after that Time attack. Thanks so much.

Here we go! I notice a bit more variation in this version than the previous one.

The song is mostly comprised of the main organ-y synth at the beginning, which is rearranged and modified throughout the song with varying intensities and backing synths.

The note placement and instrument choices all seem good, although it just seems as if though the song lacks a section of great intensity. If somewhere near the middle of the track there was another synth that temporarily played a satisfying solo on top of the other instruments and was accompanied by faster and heavier drums, then this song would have good 'normal', medium and heavy parts.

A bit of tweaking and this song turn into something really cool.
Keep at it! :P

Sorry if I don't have the greatest terminology,

Syzion responds:

All good!

It seems to me like you've tweaked the main beat from the original; those are some satisfying drum thumps (I'm an expert of musical terminology eh? :P ). As well the volume levels of the synths from other parts of the song seem to have been adjusted. Overall I'd say it sounds a bit nicer than before.

Like you said yourself in the description, the finale comes more gradually as opposed to such an abrupt end, with some extra build up as well.

Since I don't have the original audio file, I can't compare too much without relying completely on memory. Other than that I'd say you did a good job re-mastering this. :)

Syzion responds:

Thank you very much!

Not bad, not bad at all!

The wide array of synths and note variations, combined with various breaks and alterations of the main beat really nail that 'outer space' feeling you were going for.

I'm no musical expert, but you certainly were able to keep the song fresh by supplementing the longer angelic/spacey synths with more constant and changing digital beeps and boops.
(My lack of compositional knowledge is apparent in my terminology :P )

If you truly had taken a long break from this genre, then it certainly seems like you were able to reacquaint yourself just fine.

Keep up the great work!

Syzion responds:

Thank you for your review, and rating!
In this case, your criticism is better than me criticizing. I suck at giving the right words!

This is pretty good!

The way you eased from the synths and drums into the more intense guitar parts helped to nail the ominous feeling you were going for.

The song slowly turns into what seems like a battle theme for a show or a game, which is quite impressive and sounds really cool. :P

My knowledge of sound mixing and guitars is kind of limited, so other than saying that I didn't hear any audio cracks/clipping or missing notes I can't really comment much on the technical side of things. I'm sure there is someone on the Audio Forum who'd be more than happy to give some kind of analysis though.

All in all I'd say you did a great job, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

P.S
Would you mind if I used this W.I.P as background music for a cartoon as long as I gave full credit? :)

Naildown55 responds:

Of course you may use this demo. Thanks for the thorough review :)

The track is very soothing and calm, fitting for a very relaxed snowy cave setting, which is what I'm sure you both were after when you made this.

The instruments seem to be quite varied, but you managed to space them out enough to prevent the song from sounding cluttered.

This song would actually fit quite well for an animation I have planned. If it isn't asking too much; would it be okay If I ever used this track in a cartoon for the site as long as I gave credit?

samulis responds:

Hey dude! As long as the cartoon is non-commercial, it's completely fine to use it, as per the CC license. If you plan on sticking an ad in there, just pop a little rev share my way.

Happy animating!

The beginning build up sort of seems like a different song, more of the 'villain's theme' that plays before a battle. However, right near the end of the buildup the song amps up the intensity and become final boss-y.

It certainly seems like you were aiming for an RPG Style of music, which I think you were able to successfully execute with the large variety of orchestral instruments mixed with what I think are synths.

Would you be opposed if I used this in an animation someday?
I'll give full credit and everything. :)

Lugiaa responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, maybe the build up was a bit long haha. Also I don't remember using any non-orchestral synths in this (they probably don't sound the best because I'm cheap and use free VST instruments)

Of course you can use it, that's why it's here! (if you haven't found any other music in the time it took for me to reply lol)
