The Good News: The door is locked.
The Bad News: The return trip is probably just as awful. :P

flashh908 responds:

Even worse news: monsters can open locked doors

Snake Legs McCraig on the bottom left definitely has a story to tell about how he wound up as a snake monster before he died and was re-risen as a Skeleton. That goofy smile he's got is telling me he's still proud about how he pulled it off. :P

Otherwise, another cool batch!
Probably a tie this week between Skull Shield Skeleton and the Floating Dual Daggers Skeleton.
Diggin' the teal colour you use for their metal armour, and the pale blues for when magical properties are implied with your floatin' warriors.

At 56 skeletons in as many days, your Necromancer either has the makings of a small town, is looking to take over the next town over, or is so paranoid that a Paladin is going to bonk him on the head with a hammer that the vast majority of his skeletons are still combat orientated. haha

Best of luck with your continuing skeleton journey!

WURMxFUD responds:

Skull shield is definitely my personal fav out of this last week's~

haha It's definitely a very conquest-oriented batch of guys at the moment, we'll see how long the trend keeps up :')

A dragon of sorts! Not bad. :)

I like the addition of the scales around the edges of his limbs and head to add the extra detailing, but the piece of a whole remains cartoony with minimal details within the centers and away from the edges.

Perhaps the top part of his lizard frill could have a line or two like the middle of the frill to keep it consistent, but otherwise that's just a bit of a nit-pick.

Other than that, I like the colour scheme of the dark scales and much lighter lizardy sails.
Keep up the practice and I'm sure you'll get where you want to go. :)

Best of luck!

ToggleDragon responds:

thanks for the review. i love mashing realistic and cartoony together, so that probably explains the inconsistency, considering they are opposites

Before these skeletons had plausible deniability that they were wielding weapons for self-defense as this ambitious young Necromancer was finding a place in this world for themself, but with Suspicious Helmet McMurder Glaive holding his victim's head, I'm beginning to suspect this Necromancer is perhaps not as friendly as I had previously been giving them credit. lol

UNLESS THAT IS, this is the first instance of a skeleton breaking away from the strict 'no murder' rules, and will subsequently be punished and imprisoned by the soon to be risen 'Skeleton Jailor'. Time will tell.

Otherwise, Red Armour Skeleton is the 2nd favorite, and Bomb Barrel is the best this week. :P

WURMxFUD responds:

I can safely say Bomb Barrel has been a HUGE favorite everywhere, born of my laziness and lack of desire to spend time rendering anything complex~

I like the implication that the Skeleton Ratter isn't even a fighter based on the fact he has a 'RAT' bar instead of a 'STRENGTH' bar. If he steals all of the skeleton rats, he wins the fight. :P

Otherwise! Another fun batch of skelly bones! Personal favorite this week has to be floating skull tombstone. That candle looks important, and adventurers better hope it's not one of those novelty props that clamps down if you try to take what's inside.

WURMxFUD responds:

Thanks for always taking the time to look at them! I was pretty proud of this batch overall, but my personal favs are definitely the tombstone and this variation of the gravedigger. Thinking I might try to do more of these in different tiers/promotions/power levels.

Now that we're at Week 4, most of the main combat and defense roles have been met. You've got your main champions, your ranged support and the general infantry mixed with good range.

The common Necromancer would find most of their defense needs met at this point, but the summoner here is clearly no common Necromancer!

Now that a standing force can dissuade the vast majority of low level paladins, there is time to consider what long term success might look like. The gap between being a frightening rogue necromancer in the valley and a well respected lord of the dead is a large one, but I've got my hopes that this summoner has a good vision.

We might see a resurgence of subjects like Art, Diplomacy, Tourism and Baking amongst these skeletons if the town can get built up enough. :P

Best of luck!

WURMxFUD responds:

Thanks for the support! You right we haven't even begun to explore what a skeleton mercantile system looks like...

As much I can enjoy the lighting of the skeleton firing the skeleton mind beams, the goofy coffin skeleton clinches this one for me because I just imagine him poppin' out like a turtle once a character gets too close to him. Hopping and swaying from leg to leg as he slowly clomps on over to them to attack. :P

WURMxFUD responds:

thanks I gotta agree, I had a lot of fun with that one! if I were going to animate these he'd be first on the list for sure, so much you can do with it

Further proof that just about anything can kill DMA: your strongest character. :P

Mewx responds:

peak glass cannon

I know that each figure was drawn seperately, but I just picture that Heavily Armed Skeleton is just about to be absolutely ambushed by the Crossbow Skelly, who is just about ready to take the shot. haha

WURMxFUD responds:

Great at swinging multiple sharp objects around at once, terrible situational awareness (not a great combo)

The skeleton warriors make sense as a first choice for any Necromancer, what with the Paladins that might try to stop you. Then you see the Skeleton Summoners who help along with the recruitment efforts. After a while you get to Skeleton Guards, the Skeleton Workers, Skelton Blacksmiths, and eventually you get into surplus territory and start getting the Skeleton Librarians, Skeleton Gardeners and Skeleton Diplomats. That might take until Week 7+ though :P

Floaty Mage McSkellybones is probably my favorite, because he looks like he's having the time of his life shooting those flames out of his hands at the ground. Every other skelly also has a neat pose, and despite their common origins, each seems to have it's own personality and flair to them to keep them unique.

Make sure you keep posting your results if you keep going with this! Batches of 7-8 like this one would work great! :)

WURMxFUD responds:

Just wait until week 8 hits and you get introduced to the skeleton distillers and skeleton sommeliers.

Thrilled that you enjoy them so much, I'll definitely be posting them weekly as I go!
