Nice work with the perspective! Angles like this a usually pretty tricky for me unless I'm using reference photos.
Keep it up!

Yea it helps when u put a grid under it x]
Good job nailing the atmosphere. :P
Number one trick when it comes to feeling too lazy to draw is to simply just get started.
Once you get started you'll keep adding details and get into the groove. After that the negative part of your brain usually shuts up, and if it doesn't; you keep going regardless because it's fun. :P
Haha, yeah. I just did that. Started and I kept adding things. I was like "It's enough now, I think? Or.. Nah, wait.. This is nice too.. Hmm" and stuff like that.
:3
That Tortoise is blasting some serious beats by the look of that face. :P
I like the goofy face and the colour changing outline you gave it, makes it very pleasant to look at.
Judging by the description you seem to think that you could have done this one a bit better.
If you ever decide to revisit this piece, I'd suggest moving the neck hole further to the left, as it seems as if though it is more to the side as opposed to the centre. I would also maybe consider making the tortoise wider so you could add more tortoise shell details to up the quality of the drawing. Longer legs would also make it so you could see the other side legs as well.
Lastly, if you decided to drastically alter this drawing, it could be to make it a Stereo Tortoise, with incredibly large speakers sticking out the sides. It would allow you to add longer legs and more impressive shell details, as well as to give you more pixels to work with as a result of the increased size of the canvas.
Just some suggestions, but either way I'm happy with it.
Thank you very much for the request and I wish you luck with the rest of your Pixel Month. :)
What a great review!
I love you man! Thanks for tips. I'm absolutely agree with you :)
I think looking at the in-game 3D models of the worms would prove to be a valuable reference image. Worms Forts Under Siege or Worms 3D should have ample poses and screenshots that will show you all of the different expressions without the use of black lines.
As it stands it looks pretty good so far, drawing the more dynamic poses should prove to be a worthwhile challenge for you.
Great work! :P
Yep, I am trying to challenge myself with new things. This was pretty difficult. I am also trying to push myself to learn animating. But I am afraid for whatever reason. :/
But oh well.. I just hope I can make sweet animations later on for people to enjoy.
It's always a good idea to venture out of your comfort zone from time to time to improve your art.
Your lineart is still steady without use of the line tool, which is definitely a skill to be proud of.
The choice of colours/shading is nice and colourful and still manages to get the muscle details to be shown clearly.
I notice though that some of your colours and lines overlap or extend past in certain areas, and near Melandy's hip there a few floating lines. This was most likely part of the line art experiment to fit in with the painting theme, but if it wasn't intentional, simply going over and erasing those lines would correct that.
Anatomically speaking everything seems proportional, so other than some additional clean-up with this image I'd say you did a very good job. :)
With the brush tool you have a lot more control over line thickness and curving, just a little more attention and care is required to prevent the line-art from looking a bit messy.
That said, I'm still incredibly impressed at how fast your skills are improving.
Keep it up Boco! :P
yeah, its quite messy in some parts, with line and shading overlapsing and even the colors of head of the tail is missing because this was mainly just a "quick" experiment .i'll later work on a different artwork with this same method but i'll try to make it more clean and refined
Neh-vah Geev Aup! D:<
I've watched your drawing skills improve since I joined this site, and the improvement is going to continue for you as long as you keep at it. We've all had our moments where we see incredible art and feel like we may never reach that level, myself included.
However, I've since learned that I should no longer beat myself up when I look at other peoples art, instead I get inspired. I look back to my first digital drawings on my computer, and trust me; there is a MOUNTAIN of improvement from my past work.
I then think, "I'm sure this super crazy talented artist whose art amazes me has ALSO improved upon their earlier work."
Some peoples skills develop faster than others, but that shouldn't discourage you. You need to look at your own skills and reflect upon how you've improved and how you can do better in the future.
Nothing good will come from abandoning your art. I can speak from experience.
There was a time when I got so irritated at my art that I almost stopped drawing recreationally completely. Hardly any of my art had any effort put in and were scribbles at best.
However, I then realized that I missed drawing, that I had found it fun to draw.
I was less concerned with my skill level and was more satisfied with the fact that I was making something I found amusing and creative. Other people can draw things that fascinate me, but the things I drew on paper were created by me.
Simple inside joke drawings or goofy doodles made me happy, and I started drawing regularly again. Once I started drawing more, naturally my art skills improved in art class and on my own time.
We all enter art funks or art blocks once in a while, but we have to break through them and try and remember why we draw in the first place.
With that said, your art managed to impress Team17 itself. Your Worms fan-art managed to catch the attention of the very company that you were making art about. Not to mention you are currently celebrating a milestone on DeviantArt.
Looking at this image here the line work seems good. You've based the characters off the Worms games and used their colour pallets. Shading is consistent and has a good light source.
I definitely wouldn't call it terrible.
You shouldn't stop now, and you should never judge your art to the work of others.
Instead, look at HOW they draw their art, and see if you can understand the techniques they used, and guess how they approach their drawings.
You should use other art as an inspiration and as a learning tool.
In fact, you should look at the art that made you want to quit, and thoroughly examine it.
Try asking these questions to yourself...
-What program did they use?
-How did they make it?
-When did they make it?
-There is a Speed Painting of this? Maybe I could watch it...
-What kind of brushes did they use?
-Is there a technique I can learn from this?
-Could I try and use this technique on my own art?
-That's an interesting camera angle, I could try to learn from this!
Every image can be a learning experience, if you know how to look at it.
By all means take a break though, play games, do things that you enjoy.
Soon enough the creative spark will come back and you'll forget why you wanted to give up on art to begin with. :)
Sorry this was so long and wordy. I guess since you were the one who scouted me I feel as though I need to be the one to help you look at your art in a more positive light. You put a pretty big smile on my face when you praised my art and told me that I was now able to post to the art portal. I'm sure it's how you felt when you got scouted. :P
Anyways, best of luck man. I'm sure you'll feel better about yourself in no time!
Wow, that truly hit me. Thanks a lot! I almost could shed a tear heheh.. :')
I really won't stop drawing, just taking a break indeed. And I do try to see how others made their drawings so that I could learn and apply those techniques to my own creations a bit. It's difficult though..
This was truly inspiring though. I myself am not that good with words so I apologize if my reply comes off a bit lame.. But I really appreciate it that you took the time to write all that just for me. :)
Team 17 however kinda abandoned me I think. I never got a reply again about making weekly worms comics. I probably asked for too much money heheh.. xD
But again, thanks a lot friend! :D
Looks like you got the explosions figured out no problem. :P
Best of luck with the rest of DBM!
im not really happy with the result, i just wish i could find someone else to make the effects for me since i suck at those ^^!
I'd swear that it was actual artwork for the game. :P
I'm not sure if you were trying to emulate the Hearthstone artists, if this is your own style, or if you actually ARE a Hearthstone artist; but it looks great!
I'd try to offer lighting advice, but since there so many light sources I don't think I'm qualified enough to try and make suggestions.
There is a question I have for you if you don't mind elaborating. When someone is able to make super detailed drawings like this, do make them faster because all of your experience? Or does it still take a long time regardless of skill level?
Thanks in advance and excellent work!
Heya, thanks alot. I am not a hearthstone artist. This image was done for the hearthstone art contest over at deviantart.
I have worked for the WoW trading card game a few years back tho. Which later turned into 'hearthstone' sort of. :D
And no... this still takes me alot of time to create. What makes an image better or faster is that you know what you are doing. The fundemental knowledge of creating art. So knowing how materials react, how to make certain forms or compositional things. That all helps to get a painting done faster as you dont have to go in all the time and fix things. But this image took me about 40h to make.
This looks nice! I enjoy the crackly rock details on the cliff and the perspective.
I'm looking at the image though and I noticed that on the name near the bottom right it seems a tiny bit pixelated, as well as around the border of the image. I think if you increase the export quality of your image it will come out a little bit clearer.
Good work! :)
Yeah I did use a lower dpi image to share with, which can easily be corrected :) Should be adjusted shortly :)
